Strain Spotlight – Death Bubba (Indica)

For a long time, British Columbia has been recognized by cannabis users worldwide for its incredibly beautiful and potent strains. Death Bubba, bred Matteo Suleyman of Sea to Sky in Vancouver, BC, is exactly the kind of bud that earned the province its reputation. Crossing Bubba Kush and Death Star, Suleyman has created one of the most popular Canadian strains that stands out as one of the best available, not only on the West Coast but in the world.

I have never found a city that does Indica’s quite like Vancouver. Maybe it’s the fact that it feels like its dark throughout more than half the year, meaning more time sleeping/ spent inside perfecting genetics, but whatever the case, Vancouver is home to some of the piniest, most kushy strains around and no bud exemplifies that better than Death Bubba.

Taste

Perfect for the end of the day/ after work (or in the morning if you’re feeling brave), the incredibly potent Death Bubba is one of the best-tasting strains on the market today. The current batch at Just Cannabis captures everything I look for in a delicious kush. Taste of cannabis is a huge factor for me. After smoking for over 15 years, most of that time spent buying weed from unreliable sources; I’m done smoking bad-tasting weed. I want to taste the terpene profile when I smoke the flower, not burnt plant matter. It’s like the creator of Death Bubba read the minds of people like myself and other like-minded smokers when he created this strain. Death Bubba manages to be both sweet and spicy at the same time.

For me, Death Bubba belongs in the kush family, as the strongest genetics that I notice come from it’s Bubba lineage. My favourite kind, and really the hallmark for a good kush, is one with a strong pine/skunk/gas terpene profile that is so loud you can literally hear it calling your name from your pocket on the bus. Everyone knows the type I’m talking about; the super dank kush that almost gives off vapour lines like fuel in the sun. For me, that strain is Death Bubba. Whether smoked in a bowl, a joint, vaporized or even eaten, Death Bubba’s distinct terpene profile stands out as one of the best-tasting strains around.

Buds

The current batch at Just Cannabis has some of the stickiest buds I have seen in a while. A mix between some huge monster nugs, as well as the more typical smaller to medium-sized Bubba buds. I cannot overstate how resinous this batch is. The true definition of sticky icky. The buds are mostly forest green with shades of darker greens and orange hairs. They are all covered in a beautiful frosting, like an early December morning. Except this frost gets you high. Very very high. It burns very clean with white ash. The smoke is thick and packs a punch, but goes out smooth while being kind to your throat. One of those strains you can taste for a while after the exhale.

Experience

Death Bubba is notoriously potent and this batch definitely lives up to the reputation. Each resinous inhale offers a sleepy and relaxed sensation on the exhale. The high is almost immediate and quite strong. Like, really strong. Yet, always manageable. It doesn’t offer any sense of anxiety or increased heart rate that some other high THC strains do for me.

Some people find that certain Indica’s are not great for their depression, however, Death Bubba is known for offering a sense of calm and controlled euphoria and this batch left me feeling at ease and filled with a sense of joy and contentment. This makes it ideal for use at the end of a long day. Or any day, really. Death Bubba is so good you deserve to smoke it whenever, wherever. It should be said that it does live up to its Indica name and will certainly put you to sleep after a while, but without any feeling of burnout.

Final Thoughts

There are certain strains that you try where you know that all weed smoked after is going to be compared to that one and Death Bubba was that for me more than any other strain I’ve tried. The taste, the smell, the look, the high. It was everything I was looking for in weed and what all weed has been compared to since. Whenever I see Death Bubba available at a store or online, I order it. While you can never go wrong with Death Bubba, the current batch available at Just Cannabis stands out as some of the best I’ve had in a while.

Don’t sleep on Death Bubba. Sleep well WITH Death Bubba.
